Accelerate is our Youth Empowerment Programme.

What is the Accelerate Programme about?

Accelerate is specifically for talented young professionals between the ages of 18 and 34, who are unemployed, and would like to gain work experience, skill, and exposure in the supply chain software industry.

How did the Accelerate Programme start?

At iWMS, we recognised the importance of investing in young talent and started hiring apprentices from early on. We found their contributions valuable and set our minds to finding ways to help improve the lives of young South Africans.

We empower young people by allowing them to gain work experience and skill through:

  1. Structured training programmes
  2. Continuous growth & development opportunities
  3. Personal guidance & mentorship
  4. Real-life exposure in a software/ IT services company
  5. Working with globally recognised brands & their supply chains

Awareness of the high unemployment rate amongst South African youth (62.1%* in 2023) and our passion for working with young people, drove us to formalise our Youth Empowerment Programme. In 2022, we officially created the Accelerate Programme.

Ultimately, we aim to improve the lives of talented youth and believe that this will have a positive effect on the socio-economic environment in South Africa.

Accelerate Opportunities Available

Apprenticeships we have available are mostly in the field of Supply Chain Operations – IT, including support consultants, developers and testers. Occasionally we also offer apprenticeships in the fields of Marketing, Sales, Human Resources, Finance and Admin.

Marketing Apprentice

Desired Candidate profile: We are looking for a passionate, creative, and detail orientated Marketing apprentice to join our South African Marketing team as soon as possible. This position is a 1-year contract for aspiring marketing professionals looking to accelerate their skills, experience, and future. The apprentice will be given the opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge through mentorship and exposure to exciting and diverse campaigns, initiatives, and projects in various countries. If your 1-year apprenticeship is deemed successful, a permanent position on the Marketing team will be offered.

Human Resources Apprentice

Desired Candidate profile: The ideal Candidate should possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in Human Resources or a related field. It is preferable for the candidate to have at least 3 months of experience using MS Office applications and demonstrate familiarity with HR software systems. Effective interpersonal skills are crucial for communicating with both internal teams and external stakeholders. The desired candidate should exhibit qualities such as being energetic, curious, hardworking, and enthusiastic, showcasing a strong drive to learn and contribute. Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential for this role. The ability to work independently and productively in a remote setting is highly valued. The candidate should demonstrate professionalism in their communication, providing clear, informative, and appropriate responses to colleagues and customers through various mediums, including email, telephone, and collaboration tools like MS Teams or n Task. Reliability and dependability are key traits, ensuring that assigned tasks are completed or updated in a timely manner without the need for constant follow-up. Fluency in English is a requirement for effective communication in the workplace.

Accounts Apprentice

Desired Candidate profile: The ideal candidate must be willing to be trained in the accounting field and be studying for an accounting qualification or have recently completed the relevant qualification. The candidate should be a good communicator and problem-solver and quickly adapt to different environments and situations. They need to be comfortable working remotely, under pressure to meet reporting deadlines, and working independently and proactively rather than in a managed role.

Admin Apprentice

Desired Candidate Profile: The ideal candidate should hold a Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in Business Administration, Office Management, or a related field. The ideal candidate should have experience using MS Office applications and demonstrate proficiency in administrative tasks. Effective interpersonal skills are essential for communicating with internal teams and external stakeholders. The desired candidate should be energetic, curious, hardworking, and enthusiastic, showing a strong willingness to learn and contribute to the organization. Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills are required for this role. The ability to work autonomously and efficiently in a remote environment is highly valued. The candidate should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, delivering clear, professional, and informative messages to colleagues and customers via various channels such as email, telephone, and collaboration platforms like MS Teams or n Task. Dependability and reliability are critical attributes, ensuring that assigned tasks are completed or updated promptly without requiring constant reminders. Fluent English language skills are necessary for effective communication and collaboration.

Developer Apprentice

Desired Candidate profile: The ideal candidate should possess Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field. They should have a minimum of 3 months of experience working with MS SQL,  Net Programmer, Reporting Tools, and MS Office tools. Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential for this role, as well as the ability to work independently and effectively in a remote environment. The candidate should demonstrate proficiency in clear and professional communication through various channels such as telephone, email, MS Teams, and n Task while ensuring the information shared is informative and appropriate.

Support Apprentice

Desired Candidate Profile: The ideal candidate should possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field. Additionally, the ideal candidate should have at least 3 months of experience utilizing MS SQL/.Net Programmer and MS Office applications. Exceptional interpersonal skills are required, as the candidate must effectively communicate with both internal and external stakeholders. The desired candidate should demonstrate the qualities of being energetic, curious, hardworking, and enthusiastic. Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills are a must. The candidate should also have the ability to work productively and autonomously from a remote location. Clear, professional, informative, and appropriate communication skills are essential for interaction with colleagues and customers through various mediums such as telephone, email, MS Team, and/or n Task. Reliability and dependability are key, as the candidate should ensure that assigned tasks are completed or updated in a timely manner without constant reminders.
